BREAKING: Dangote Refinery cuts petrol prices nationwide

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a fresh reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) across Nigeria.
The new prices, which now range between ₦875 and ₦905 per litre depending on the region, represent a ₦15 decrease per litre for all areas and partner fuel retailers.
The announcement was made on Thursday via the refinery’s official social media platforms. The revised prices apply to major fuel marketers affiliated with Dangote Refinery, including MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy.
Previously, petrol retailed at ₦890 per litre in Lagos and up to ₦920 per litre in the North-East and South-South regions. Under the new pricing regime, residents in Lagos will pay ₦875 per litre, while the North-East and South-South regions will now pay ₦905 per litre.
A full regional breakdown of the updated pump prices is as follows:
Lagos – ₦875
South-West – ₦885
North-East – ₦905
North-West and Central – ₦895
South-South and South-East – ₦905
Dangote Refinery has advised consumers to purchase fuel only from its authorised outlets and urged Nigerians to report any pricing violations via its hotlines: +234 707 470 2099 or +234 707 470 2100.
“Our premium-quality petrol and diesel are refined to enhance engine performance and are environmentally friendly,” the company stated.
This development follows the reintroduction of a refund benefit policy for customers earlier in the week.
In a separate report, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, disclosed that independent oil marketers have resumed large-scale petrol imports. According to the Tanker Position Report sourced from Blue Sea Maritime, over 496 million litres of petrol were imported into Nigeria within nine days. Between 11 and 20 May 2025, approximately 370,000 metric tonnes of petrol were delivered to various depots.
Dangote Refinery, situated in Lekki and boasting a daily processing capacity of 650,000 barrels, attributed the price cut to its naira-for-crude arrangement, which has helped stabilise and lower pump prices. The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining affordable and consistent fuel pricing.
Despite global volatility in crude oil prices, Dangote Refinery has consistently implemented petrol price reductions. In a statement signed by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Mr Anthony Chiejina, the company reiterated its dedication to supporting Nigeria’s economy by easing the financial strain on citizens through sustained price stability.
