Eid-al-Adha: Rivers NSCDC Deploys 1,650 Operatives, warns criminals
In its firm resolve to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-al-Adha celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has deployed no fewer than 1,650 operatives across the state to maintain security and guarantee a hitch-free festive period.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ihemanacho Umeado, who disclosed that the State Commandant, Joachin Okafor, gave the directive during a strategic security management meeting held at the Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
According to the statement, officers have been stationed at critical locations such as prayer grounds, recreational centres, motor parks, major road intersections, and other areas where large gatherings are expected during the celebrations.
The State Commandant equally instructed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to intensify patrol operations and deploy massively to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as maintain public safety throughout the state.
He further directed specialised tactical units, including the Counter-Terrorism Squad, Anti-Vandal Unit, Agro Rangers, and the Disaster Management Unit, to be fully mobilised and ready to swiftly respond to emergencies or any breach of public peace.
Commandant Okafor stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation, assuring that the NSCDC will continue to work closely with other security agencies to deliver a peaceful and incident-free Sallah celebration for both residents and visitors in Rivers State.
