FRSC Corps marshal congratulates customs boss on global appointment

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, following his election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, the Corps Marshal described Adeniyi’s emergence as a landmark achievement and a testament to his visionary leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence, qualities that have repositioned the Nigeria Customs Service as a continental benchmark in customs administration.
“The emergence of CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as Chairperson of the WCO Council is not only a personal accomplishment but a national pride. It reflects Nigeria’s competence and the confidence the international community reposes in our capacity to contribute meaningfully to global governance in trade and customs management,” Mohammed stated.
In a related development, the Corps Marshal also congratulated Nigeria and the FRSC on the Corps’ successful bid to host the Permanent Secretariat of the African Association of all Road Safety Lead Agencies (AARSLA).
He noted that this milestone further underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in international road safety, traffic administration, and trade facilitation.
“This strategic position will empower the Corps to coordinate road safety initiatives across the continent, promote global best practices, and foster partnerships to help achieve the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety targets,” he remarked.
The Corps Marshal described the dual victories, the appointment of the Comptroller General as WCO Chair and FRSC’s selection as the AARSLA Permanent Secretariat, as emblematic of Nigeria’s emerging leadership in international trade and road safety governance.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing an enabling environment that allows institutions such as the Nigeria Customs Service and FRSC to thrive, attributing their achievements to the President’s strategic support and commitment to institutional excellence.
Mohammed further reaffirmed FRSC’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration, especially with the Nigeria Customs Service, in the collective pursuit of a safer and more prosperous nation.
