The Southern Governors’ Forum is set to hold a key meeting on Wednesday in Iperu, Ogun State, where leaders from the region are expected to discuss major national and regional issues affecting the South.

Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the Ogun State Governor, confirmed in a statement that the meeting will hold at 10 a.m. at the governor’s residence in Iperu.

By 1 p.m., the governors are scheduled to join the Southern Traditional Rulers Council for a joint session. The engagement is aimed at strengthening cooperation between political leaders and traditional institutions, especially on matters of shared interest across the southern region.

Ahead of the meeting, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun welcomed the participating governors and traditional rulers in a post on X. He said the visit offered an opportunity to deepen ongoing engagements and align expectations ahead of the forum.

“As we prepare to host the Southern Governors’ Forum meeting today, we were pleased to receive some of the distinguished attendees, particularly traditional rulers and respected leaders from across the southern region,” Abiodun said.

He added, “We value the presence of our royal fathers and regional leaders, whose wisdom and guidance continue to enrich our processes. As host, we remain committed to creating an atmosphere that encourages honest dialogue and fosters stronger collaboration among all stakeholders as we work together for the peace, stability, and development of our region and country by extension.”
