Akwa Ibom Governor urges Corps members to leave positive impact in Host communities
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Bassey Eno has called on newly deployed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to make meaningful contributions to the development of the communities where they will serve during their service year.
The Governor, represented at the orientation camp, encouraged the corps members to see their posting as an opportunity to touch lives and add value, rather than just a compulsory national assignment. He noted that host communities often rely on the skills, creativity and volunteer spirit of corps members to bridge developmental gaps.
He urged them to participate actively in community development projects, uphold discipline, and portray the state in good light through their conduct. The governor also assured them of the state government’s support, especially in ensuring their safety and welfare throughout their stay.
He expressed confidence that with commitment and teamwork, corps members can contribute meaningfully to education, health, agriculture, and social development within their assigned communities.
NYSC officials also encouraged the corps members to make use of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to prepare themselves for self-reliance after service.
