Amorim points finger at external pressure as Manchester United’s woes continue
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed concerns that his players are taking criticism personally, which he believes is affecting their performance.
Currently 15th in the Premier League, Manchester United are preparing for Ipswich Town’s visit to Old Trafford tonight, having won just one of their last four games.
The players received heavy criticism for their first-half performance against Everton on Saturday, despite staging a comeback to draw 2-2 after being two goals down.
In a recent news conference, Amorim admitted that the scrutiny resulting from the team’s poor form is impacting his squad. He suggested that constant talk from friends, social media, and former players is contributing to the negative results.
The mood at Old Trafford has further soured following the announcement on Monday that 200 club staff members are set to be made redundant.
Amorim acknowledged that employees are bearing the brunt of the club’s struggles on the pitch but expressed hope that the news would not add further pressure to the already strained atmosphere at the club.
