JAMB disburses N397m as Transport Allowance for 2025 Mock UTME Officials

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disbursed a total of N397,030,900 as transport allowances to 1,909 officials involved in the conduct of the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), slated for April 10, 2025.
This was revealed by JAMB’s Director of Finance, Mr. Mufutau Bello, during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja aimed at reviewing the board’s preparedness for the upcoming mock exam and the main UTME.
Mr. Bello stated that the sum disbursed represents only the first tranche of the allowance and accounts for one-third of the total number of personnel expected to participate in the nationwide exercise.
He emphasized the critical national significance of both examinations, describing them as a core component of JAMB’s mandate and vital to the integrity of Nigeria’s education system. He added that any lapse in the conduct of these examinations could negatively affect public trust and the credibility of the education sector.
According to a statement from the Board, the Mock UTME serves as a crucial preparatory phase for the main exam. JAMB officials pledged their commitment to ensuring a smooth and successful examination process across the country.
Addressing concerns raised over local travel allowances, JAMB explained that misunderstandings about the payment process often arise due to limited public knowledge of the complex logistics required to administer the exams nationwide.
