Lagos Police recover stolen Mercedes-Benz, track down suspects
The Lagos State Police Command has recovered a stolen 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 that was taken at gunpoint from Victoria Island last weekend.
The vehicle, a black SUV with registration number WTO 21 AM, was snatched by four armed men from its driver along Akin-Olugbade Street in the early hours of Saturday, November 1.
Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) traced the vehicle to a hideout within Lagos after a swift manhunt. He said the suspects abandoned the car when they noticed police closing in.
“The vehicle has been recovered in good condition, and efforts are ongoing to arrest all the suspects involved,” Hundeyin said.
Sources disclosed that the car was found in the Ajah area after detectives used tracking technology and intelligence reports.
Residents of Victoria Island have expressed relief over the recovery, commending the police for their prompt action. However, they called for tighter night patrols to prevent similar attacks.
The Lagos Police Command urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious movement, promising to intensify surveillance across the state.
