Super Eagles to face Iran, Jordan in four-nation tournament
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Nigeria national football team will participate in a four-nation tournament during the March international break, facing Iran and Jordan.
According to a statement issued Friday, the three-time African champions will open their campaign against the Iran national football team on March 27, 2026, at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium in Jordan’s capital.
On the same day, hosts Jordan national football team will clash with the Costa Rica national football team at the 62,000-capacity King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, also in Amman.
Four days later, Nigeria will return to the Amman International Stadium to take on Jordan, while Iran and Costa Rica square off at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
The tournament announcement comes as Nigeria awaits a decision from FIFA regarding a petition filed by the NFF seeking the disqualification of the DR Congo national football team from the 2026 FIFA Playoff Intercontinental Tournament.
The NFF alleges that DR Congo fielded ineligible players during their penalty shootout victory over Nigeria in the final phase of Africa’s playoffs last year, a result that denied the Super Eagles the sole ticket to the last intercontinental playoff tournament.
