NAWOJ congratulates women, girls worldwide on International Women’s Day

The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has congratulated all women and the Girl-child in Nigeria and on the global stage on this special day, earmarked for the commemoration of the International Women’s Day, IWD.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary Wasilah Ladan, the National Chairperson Aishatu Ibrahim salute the courage, resilience and tenacity of women in the face of daunting socioeconomic and political challenges that continue to threaten their resolve to survive, and shake the nerves of their determination to continue to contribute their quota to the growth of family institutions and to national development.
She said “We use this special occasion to task women to remain strong and resolute, to remain committed to the ideals of peace, progress and unity of our family units and the collective good and progress of our nation Nigeria.”
“The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, regards this year’s theme: Accelerate Action as apt, and a clear reminder that we must unite and bring our intellects, time and all other resources together to team up to square up with the challenges that continue to threaten our progress as women and the overall good of our nation.”
“The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ ) will continue to support in heightening the voices of women and the Girl-child while we will continue to task our leaders to ensure to take deliberate policy decisions that will uphold the Fundamental Rights of Women and Girls, including ensuring their freedom from violence, discrimination, and exploitation, as well as take actions that will cause a paradigm change in the fortunes of Women nationwide, both in their health and wealth.
”We also task every stakeholder on the need to uphold the tenets of Gender Equality which is crucial for sustainable development and social progress.”
“We equally task ourselves as women and all well meaning progressives on Self Development and Empowerment, without which meaningful progress will be a mirage. In the same vein, we task women, as mothers and caregivers, to ensure they are committed to grooming well rounded children, both males and females.”
“Once again, we salute the efforts made by our founding mothers in actualizing the current position of women as stakeholders in the progress made thus far in all spheres of human development, even in governance and industry, and as great ambassadors in the comity of nations.”
“We implore you not to rest on your oars as together, we will continue to unite to Accelerate Action and Progress.”
Once again, congratulations!
