JAMB to release rescheduled 2025 UTME results on Wednesday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will release the results of the rescheduled 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Wednesday.
According to an official notice of invitation, the event is scheduled to hold at 10:00 a.m. at the Board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
A total of 379,997 candidates from six states, namely Lagos, Imo, Anambra, Oyo, Abia, and Ebonyi, sat the rescheduled examination between 16 and 18 May. The retake was necessitated by technical issues that marred the initial exercise, which commenced on 24 April.
The development followed widespread public concern and protests over mass failures, prompting JAMB to acknowledge responsibility for the disruption. The Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, had earlier issued a public apology, accepting full accountability for what he described as an avoidable setback and its implications.
“I appeal to the candidates and all those affected by the failure of our system to accept this explanation as the plain truth. I sincerely apologise and take full responsibility, not just in words,” Oloyede stated during a press briefing in Abuja.
He revealed that the technical glitches were traced to staff negligence and failures on the part of service providers, affecting 65 centres in Lagos and 92 others in the Owerri Zone, which covers states in the South-East.
Visibly emotional as he addressed journalists, Professor Oloyede said the Board was determined to learn from its mistakes and praised members of the public for holding the institution accountable.
“Although we have identified the source of the problem and the affected centres, we are fully aware of the reputational damage this has caused JAMB,” he noted.
The Registrar assured candidates and stakeholders of the Board’s unwavering commitment to transparent and credible examinations, adding that measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence in future UTME exercises.
