Dele Momodu quits PDP, defects to ADC

Veteran journalist and Ovation International publisher, Dele Momodu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the hijack of the party by anti-democratic forces as the reason for his departure.
In a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu stated that his resignation takes effect immediately.
According to him, the party has been overtaken by forces that undermine its democratic values and vision.
“My reason is simple and straightforward,” the letter read.
“Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight. It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
A former PDP presidential aspirant and influential political commentator, Momodu appreciated the party leadership at the grassroots for their unwavering support over the years.
His move to the ADC signals a major realignment within the opposition and could reshape the political narrative in Edo State as the 2027 general elections approach.
Momodu, who joined the PDP in 2021, was active in national political debates and party engagements.
His exit adds to a growing list of party members who have become disenchanted with the party’s internal challenges and direction.
